Every piece begins with a concept and is shaped through the relationship between form, color, and gemstone. We are drawn to simple silhouettes, unexpected proportions, and the emotional weight that small objects can carry.
The result is jewelry that invites play, marks moments, and gives people new ways to express themselves.
The Founder
Sharan Loungani is a designer and gemmologist whose work brings together contemporary design and a lifelong familiarity with coloured gemstones.
Raised in a family that has worked with gemstones for over four decades, she grew up understanding them long before she began designing jewellery.
After studying design, Sharan spent several years at CaratLane, where she developed a deeper understanding of the emotional relationships people form with jewellery, not merely as adornment, but as objects that witness milestones, memories, and everyday life.
Today, BABYJI brings together her background in design, her training in gemmology, and her family's decades of expertise.
Founder's Note
Each collection begins with an idea I'm trying to wrap my head around.
Lately, that idea has been time; a concept that, as far as we know, exists only in the human mind. Why are we so fascinated by the idea of eternity? Why do we spend so much of our lives revisiting the past or anticipating the future, when the present is the only place we're ever actually in?
I often find myself making while sitting with these questions.
Jewellery has always been one of the ways we mark time. We gift it to celebrate beginnings, inherit it to remember the people who came before us, and wear it until it quietly becomes part of our own story.
These first collections are, more than anything, reminders to come back to the present. To notice the beautiful October light before it's gone. The electric pink of a spring bloom. The colors of the sunset as the sky calls for our attention into the now.
My hope is that these pieces leave room for your own meaning. That over time, what begins as jewellery becomes a reminder of who you were, what you noticed, and what you chose to build.
